I’d be out with my brother somewhere like a restaurant or a bar and sure enough, he’d have a conversation going with a pretty girl next to us.

Seemed like I could never manage to do that, and I always wondered why.

I’d scratch my head and say, he can talk to women so easily, how do I talk to women like that?

I finally figured it out: my brother was just having fun and being friendly. He didn’t have an agenda. He wasn’t trying to “pick her up” or impress her. He was just being playful and enjoying his life.

Women find playfulness and fun attractive, and they want to join in the fun.

Me, on the other hand, I’d have an agenda in my head. I’d be thinking about how to get her phone number, how to say the right things to make her like me, how to make her laugh.

Not my brother: he was at ease and that put women at ease.

When I gave up on my hidden agendas, I found that I could relax. By not being attached to trying to achieve some result, I stopped trying to measure my “success”.

It’s almost ironic or paradoxical or something like that: the less you care, the better you do. It’s not because of any kind of magic, it’s only because women – really, all people – can intuitively sense the difference between someone who’s genuinely relaxed and having fun and someone who’s trying too hard.

I was always trying too hard. Way too hard.

After I learned this lesson in my gut and not just in my head, I was out having dinner at a small burrito place near my house.

A very, very good looking woman (I later found out she was a beauty pageant winner) sat at a table in front of me.

I made some comment about her order (‘I like the chile rellenos here too’) with no agenda in mind.

Sure, she was really pretty, but instead of focusing on all this crap inside my head, I focused on having fun and being friendly.

Next thing I knew we were having a lively time together over a couple of drinks in a nearby pub.

That just goes to show you that women are much easier to talk to than you think. Let go of your objectives, stop talking to yourself, and just relax and enjoy life a little.

Women will find that – and by extension, you! – very attractive.

First, how do you know you’re talking to a woman? Because “she” said so? Because the avatar looks like the girl of your dreams?

The instant – the instant – I saw her in person, I had absolutely zero attraction to her at all.

First, she was much heavier than in her pictures, and not in a good way.

Second, she was much older than in her pictures – again, not in a good way.

Third – and this is the worst part! – I had asked her out to lunch, so I had to sit through (and pay for) an entire meal with her!

And you want to know what’s worse? I should have learned my lesson the first time. But noooo…

In fact, I remember asking a girl out to a really expensive restaurant for dinner. I even bought flowers. The date went completely flat, and I was out over a hundred dollars.

Stupid, I know – but you can learn from  my mistakes and avoid wasting time and money.

Always meet a girl over a cup of coffee – if you decide to meet – and do not spend more than 5 or 10 minutes tops talking to a woman online!

That’s also going to set you apart from other guys: the other guys drool all over her, tell her how beautiful she is, then do everything in their power to impress her.

Now, at this stage you’re going to find out which of 2 kinds of girl she is:

1. She’s a prissy prima donna, and expects you to act like the other doormats, so she starts to boss you around. Do not under any circumstances let her boss you around. Just laugh politely and ignore her demands.

2. She is totally intrigued by you, and starts acting interested in you, talking with you, laughing, being a cool person and fun to talk to.

If she’s girl #1, run fast and far. Stay with her and you’ll soon hate your life, regret the day you set eyes on her, and generally be praying for death.

If you’re walking down the street and see a woman you want to meet, you face different challenges than if she’s not moving, such as sitting in a coffee shop.

If you live in a big city, you have to overcome “the impersonal factor” because in large cities women tend to be more cautious.

So your first objective is to overcome any barriers you have to approaching women on the street. That means you’re going to have to accept that some women are simply not going to feel comfortable, will reject you outright, so you’re going to have to be prepared for that.

So with that in mind, try the direct approach: simply smile and say “hi” and stop just as you’re about to pass her and see if she stops too. Then you can start making conversation.

But that’s a very bold approach – so let’s try something a little easier… here’s what you do:

When you see a lady on the street you want to meet and talk to, just stop her and ask her for the time – just say “excuse me, can you please tell me what time it is?” or something simple and polite like that.

She’ll either tell you the time or she’ll say “I don’t know” and now you move to the next step which is some innocent compliment.

Giving compliments is covered in other articles here, but you’ll simply pay an innocent, non-sexual compliment followed by a question to get the conversation started such as “those are very nice earrings, is there a story behind how you got those?” – be creative but be sincere.

(Another idea is that after she tells you the time or “I don’t know” you can say something like “I didn’t really want to know the time, I just wanted to meet you” – this will flatter her with your boldness and sincerity).

Either way, from this point you can take things anywhere you want: ask for her phone number, ask her out for coffee, or whatever.

The main thing is to never come across as a weird guy, always come across as calm, in-control, and confident – and be sure to add a nice little friendly smile.

Conversation Starter #1:

“Where did you get your shoes?”

You know what? We guys don’t care one bit about shoes. But girls do. They looove shoes! Asking about her shoes is going to get her all lit up and chatty because women love shopping and talking about shopping.

Conversation Starter #2:

“Where did you get that interesting ring / necklace / earrings?”

Women very commonly wear some kind of jewelry – rings, toe-rings, necklaces, earrings… pay her a compliment then ask her if there’s an interesting story about how she came to own that piece of interesting jewelry.

Conversation Starter #3:

“Your hair color / hair style looks so great on you, where did you get that done?”

Girls spend a lot of time on their hair. The fact that you noticed instantly puts you on here good side. This may even give you a chance to touch her hair as you compliment how soft and healthy her hair looks – if you just met her, you might want to ask first.

Conversation Starter #4:

“What’s the most fun vacation you’ve ever taken?”

What you’re asking her to do here is reach into her memory-banks and recall a pleasant and fun time she had. This is a terrific idea because you can actually attach all those pleasant and fun feelings to you as she talks.

Conversation Starter #5:

“What’s the big deal about (currently popular female actress or singer)?”

Women are naturally competitive and catty: this gives her a chance to say what she’s been thinking about all the hoopla over so-and-so. Don’t interrupt her with your own opinion, let her say her piece.

4. Don’t be boring! If there’s one thing that women really don’t want, it’s being bored. Instead, have some great stories to tell that will keep her entertained.

5. Don’t come across as shy and nervous: shyness may be an appealing quality to some women, but the reality is that that cute-appeal will wear off very, very quickly. Women have an in-born need to feel secure around a guy, so don’t come across as nervous and lacking confidence or she’ll ditch you fast.
